A Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The first quarter of the school year has ended, and reports cards will be given to your son or daughter to carry home on November 13, 2014.  As you take the time to review and discuss the grades with your child, please do not hesitate to contact the teacher and or the counselor if you have any questions.  Please encourage your child to develop work habits that will lead to success; such as arriving to class on time, completing all assignments, asking for help, and staying after school for individualized attention when needed.  We offer late buses on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for academic tutoring.

Lastly, please be mindful that school starts at 7:25 each day and PWCS provide bus transportation.  When students arrive to school late, it is a disruption to classroom instruction, attendance has to be corrected, and the student had to be caught up on what was missed.  When a student is late, they are being marked tardy and detentions are assigned.  Let’s work together to ensure students arrive on time.
Thank you.

Freedom Students and School Counselors Mentor Through Soccer
An after school mentoring program on Wednesdays at Potomac View Elementary School was started by school counselors Roberto Rolong (Freedom High) and Randy Scott (Potomac View) with the help of three Freedom senior soccer players, Mauricio Martinez, Christian Chavez, and Giovanni Diaz. The program has 30 elementary school student participants and has been extremely well received. Students develop their soccer skills along with good sportsmanship, relationship building, and teamwork.  Way to go guys!
Freedom High School's 2013 On-Time Graduation Rate Increases by Four Percent!

Congratulations is in order for the staff, students and parents of Freedom High School as our "on-time" graduation rate climbed 4 percentage points to 86% in 2013. According to Prince William County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Steve Walts, "Freedom's success is a tribute to what can be accomplished by hard work and dedication... everyone at that school should be extremely proud."

As many of you know, Freedom High School has a very hard working and dedicated staff that is always looking for innovative ways to ensure that our students succeed while in high school and more importantly - in life. Although we are extremely excited about the success of our students, we are never satisfied with our latest accomplishments. We will continue to strive to make Freedom High School one of the best high schools in the Prince William County School Division by being a data driven, innovative and inspiring environment for our adults and our children.

We would like to thank Prince William County Schools, our parents, and our community members for helping our staff to help our students succeed, and we look forward to strengthening those partnerships in the future. As Oprah Winfrey once said, "Education is the key to unlocking the world… a passport to Freedom."

Go Eagles!
