Walts joined Freedom High School principal Inez Bryant and the school's ESOL Co-Chair Michelle Marrero for a discussion about two grants recently awarded to Freedom High School; the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant and the Virginia Advanced Studies Strategy grant. Rossana Noviello, administrative coordinator for Recruitment and Retention in the Office of Human Resources, translates for Walts.

Freedom High School is proud to announce that we have been awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant from the Virginia Department of Education! The grant, which totals $600,000, will be dispersed over the course of three years. Freedom was one of only 38 school to receive the grant in an application pool of 110 school and community organizations. Freedom and its grant partners will use these funds to develop after school programs focused on supporting academic achievement and providing enrichment opportunities for our students.
